Two words… food blogs. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to discover this amazing part of the internet, since I spend most of my day searching online for good recipes anyway. Who do I have to thank for opening my eyes to the wonders of food blogging? My new favorite person, Ashley Holladay. Not only is she is an Aggie, a Theta, and a military wife, but we also share the same passion for cooking. Her blog The Spicy Skillet has inspired me to take on this adventure, as well. I mean, what else do I have to do right now? Of course, Daniel and I are expecting a little bundle of joy to grace our presence within the next two weeks, but as for now, I spend all my time thinking about what to cook next.
This is primarily going to be a food blog, but what kind of new mother would I be if I didn’t talk about my daughter (and my husband, of course) every once in awhile. Plus, I am raising her to be a cook, so she will fit in perfectly with this new adventure of mine, and as far as my husband… he loves eating what I cook. So see, everything in my life fits in with my passion for cooking, even our dog Roxy who loves waiting every night for scraps to fly off the counter.
My only goal starting out is to not abandon my blog once Emily Grace gets here. In fear of not having a prepared meal on the table the first couple of weeks we are home from the hospital, I got into “Once A Month Cooking.” The basic premise is that you cook all your meals for the month on one day and freeze them all. Although I had to space out the cooking, due to the fact that being this pregnant I couldn’t handle being on my feet that long, I have the freezer full of meals that should last us a couple of weeks. So basically, there shouldn’t be anything that keeps me from this blog as I recover from delivery. Plus, I have heard that you need to find something to do as some “me time” when the baby comes to remain sane. But lets face it… nothing can keep me out of the kitchen.
Liz!!! I LOVE IT!!! It looks so nice and I love your title bar picture. I wish I had a kitchen like that!! I can’t wait to hear more about your cooking adventures and the new baby girl. I’ll be sure to get on to you if you start slacking off on the blog after her arrival.
Liz,
I just love your cooking blog! I am so proud of you! What a great way to let us all know what you are up to in Sneads Ferry, NC.
Keep on cooking, Girl. You obviously love it and are good at it. Know Daniel is proud of you too.
